Kaiako are increasingly expected to bring local histories, mātauranga Māori and tangata whenua perspectives into the classroom. But knowing where to find trusted local knowledge, what is appropriate to teach, and how to begin can be difficult.
Become grounded in the whenua beneath
Te Kawau creates a direct connection between kaiako and the histories, places and people of Tāmaki Makaurau.
We help kaiako build a deeper understanding of Tāmaki Makaurau, giving them the knowledge, confidence and practical tools to bring local histories, tikanga and te reo Māori into everyday learning.
